The Team is pressing ahead with plans to enlarge the present rather cramped base at Morvich. We are hoping for financial assistance from the Order of St. John.

June 2003, we provided First Aid cover for sections of the Highland's toughest sporting event "The Highland Cross". The event starts right on our doorstep at Morvich and comprises of a 20 mile run through to the head of Loch Affric and then a 30 mile bike ride to Beauly. Over 600 competitors take part. The record is an incredible 3 hours 13 mins! None of the KMRT entrants can boast of a time anywhere near that, but we have won the trophy for the First Mountain Rescue Team for the last three years!
**The team successfully retained the trophy for 4th year!**

June also saw us in an exercise with the RAF. The team has worked with the RAF on numerous rescues and it is essential to keep up our helicopter time and practice. The appearence of a Sea King chopper on the scene is always a welcome site.

In June 2002 we received a Landrover, kindly donated by Keswick MRT click for more......

The team had an urgent call on the evening of the second of January. We were needed to search for the missing family, as above. There were in fact 8 of them and they were not lost on an icy ridge, but the press cutting is pretty accurate on the rest.
In addition, they had no torch and set off on a 18 mile walk at midday! Conditions were cold, misty with snow showers and poor conditions - wet snow and some ice - underfoot. Their route was from Morvich to Cluanie which involves climbing over 1000 feet over the Allt Grannda and maintaining this altitude past Camban Bothy to Glen Affric Youth Hostel. Fortunately for them, an outbuilding was open enabling them to get much needed shelter.
The Team's advice is BE PROPERLY EQUIPPED FOR WINTER CONDITIONS!!
