The Ochils MRT operate a Hill Leader system. Hill Leaders are experienced members who are seen by the Team to be sufficiently qualified in MR skills to lead a group of members during an incident. They act as the main contact to the Team Leader at base and direct their group members to the task set to them.

W currently have 7 Hill Leaders with the experience and capabilities to undertake their role. It is also expected that the Hill Leader can take the place of the Team Leader or Deputy Leader during an incident if the they are not available.
